Vacuum packing is the stage that turns a perishable kernel into an exportable one. Cashews oxidise and go rancid in contact with air, so removing the oxygen — and replacing it with nitrogen — is what converts a few weeks of shelf life into up to twelve months. Everything else about the pack is secondary to that.

Double-chamber machines seal one side while the operator loads the other, which is where most of the throughput gain comes from on bulk formats.
How it works
Chamber evacuation
the pack is placed in a sealed chamber and air is drawn out to a set vacuum level.
Nitrogen flush
inert gas replaces the evacuated air, displacing residual oxygen and stopping the film pulling hard onto the kernels, which reduces breakage in transit.
Heat sealing
the seal bar closes the pack. Temperature and dwell time are set for the film in use, and both matter more than operators usually expect.
Cooling
the seal has to set before handling, or it fails later in the container rather than in your factory.
Programmable control
recipes per bag size and film type, so changing format does not mean re-learning the settings.
What determines whether the pack holds
Kernel moisture below 5%
packing damp kernels seals in the moisture, and mould appears in the pack rather than on your floor.
Kernels fully cooled
packing warm product causes condensation inside the pack. If the line runs roasting, this is the most common failure.
Correct seal temperature
too cool and the seal is weak, too hot and the film thins and splits along the seal.
Clean seal area
a single kernel fragment or a trace of oil across the seal line is enough to leak, and a slow leak is invisible until arrival.
Film specification
barrier properties matter. A cheap film with poor oxygen barrier undoes the nitrogen flush you paid for.
Maintenance
Replace seal bar PTFE and elements on schedule
worn elements give intermittent weak seals, which is worse than an obvious failure because it passes inspection.
Service the vacuum pump
oil changes on schedule; a tired pump takes longer to reach vacuum and slows the whole line.
Check chamber gaskets
a perished gasket means the chamber never reaches full vacuum and nobody notices until shelf life complaints arrive.
Verify residual oxygen periodically
the only way to confirm the flush is working is to measure it.
Keep the machine clean
kernel dust and oil accumulate around the seal area and are the usual cause of leaking packs.
