Cashew processing technology has moved from manual work to PLC-automated lines. The key technologies are automatic size grading, controlled steaming, multi-head automatic cutting, sensor-controlled borma drying, dry air-and-friction peeling, CCD optical colour sorting, and shell-fired or biomass energy that powers the plant from its own waste. Over-specifying the air system is a common and expensive mistake, because the shelling stage is widely assumed to need air. It does not.
