Cashew Nut HS Codes for Export
Cashews are classified under HS heading 0801 — in-shell and shelled — with distinct subheadings that customs and buyers use for duties and documentation.
Cashew nuts fall under Harmonized System heading 0801 ("coconuts, Brazil nuts and cashew nuts, fresh or dried"). The key subheadings are 0801.31 for cashew nuts in shell (raw cashew nut / RCN) and 0801.32 for shelled cashew nuts (kernels). Countries add further digits for national tariff lines. Always confirm the exact code and duty with your customs broker or the destination tariff schedule, as classifications and rates change.
| HS code | Description |
|---|---|
| 0801.31 | Cashew nuts, in shell (raw cashew nut / RCN) |
| 0801.32 | Cashew nuts, shelled (kernels) |
Six-digit HS codes; national schedules add further digits.
HS codes for the machinery
The product codes above cover the nuts. If you are importing a processing line, the equipment is classified separately and usually at a different duty rate — which is why an agro-processing exemption, where one exists, is claimed against the machinery code and not against 0801.
| Equipment | HS code | Heading covers |
|---|---|---|
| Shelling, cutting, peeling and grading machinery | 8438.60 | Machinery for the industrial preparation of fruit, nuts or vegetables |
| Steam boiler (shell-fired, wood chip or pellet) | 8403.10 | Central heating boilers other than those of heading 84.02 |
| Steaming / conditioning vessel | 8419.89 | Machinery for treating materials by a process involving a change of temperature |
| Borma dryer | 8419.33 or 8419.39 | Dryers for agricultural products |
| Bucket elevator and conveying | 8428.32 | Bucket-type continuous-action elevators and conveyors |
Confirm final classification with your customs broker; national tariff lines vary and a wrong heading is expensive to unwind after the goods have shipped.
Published cashew-machinery lists — including earlier versions of this site — have circulated two classifications that do not hold up. 8433.60 is sometimes given for a shelling table, but heading 8433 covers harvesting and threshing machinery, which a sheller is not; 8438.60 is the correct family. And 8419.34 is quoted for dryers but does not exist as a subheading in HS 2022 — dryers for agricultural products fall under 8419.33 or 8419.39. Both corrections are reflected in the table above.
HS classifications and duty rates vary by country and change over time. Confirm the precise code and tariff for your shipment with a licensed customs broker or the destination tariff schedule.
